Gerald
Monter is a proud supporter of different organizations and causes. As a former
university student and as a teacher, Gerald Monter understands exactly how
instrumental education is. In his own life, Gerald Monter made sure to attend
university. He attended New York University from 1938 to his graduation in
1942. He successfully earned his Bachelor of Science in Education and found
work that same year.
Working for
a public vocational school, Gerald Monter worked for the New York City public
schools from 1942 to 1951, except for the years he was in the Army. Gerald
Monter served in the U.S. Army as a 1st Lieutenant. He was decorated with a
Bronze Star and received a Purple Heart. He retired from the military due to a
debilitating injury incurred during World War II.
Gerald
Monter didn't quit teaching until he founded his own business. In 1951, Gerald
Monter founded The Holiday Organization. For over half-a-century, Gerald Monter
gained a considerable amount of business success and wealth. He used his
personal gains to fund a number of organizations and charities.
One of the
programs that Gerald Monter supported
repeatedly was the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts. The program is a part
of Long Island University. Gerald Monter showed his support through his work as
a board member, and as a fundraiser for the Council of Overseers of the Tilles
Center.
